This is a very quiet, peaceful spot and ideal for walks and bike rides in the fresh air. You can even walk down a country lane to the Abbey at Sablonceaux. Attractions include others the Zoo at La Palmyre, which is always very popular with children. The Aquarium at La Rochelle is worth a visit and Rochefort has some interesting sites. The Roman remains at Saintes are very interesting.
